How co-writing songs became a healing process for Hartsoe and wife Shannon

Hey! I’m Steve Hartsoe, and I’m a singer, songwriter, and guitar player originally from the San Francisco Bay Area now living just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Usually, this is where I tell you I have a new album in the works, and here’s how you can be a part of the process. That’s all true, but first I want to tell you why this album is more  special to me than any other music project I’ve been a part of. I have a new music partner for this one – my wife, Shannon. She's going to explain how this project came to be. (Learn how you can help them finish a new album. Click here)

Shannon:
2022 was quite a challenging year for us. We found ourselves wrestling with issues like love, commitment, faith, and adversity. Our marriage really suffered.

Steve:
So Shannon started putting pen to paper to make sense of it all, and, after 25 years of marriage, I discovered she’s an amazing lyricist! I mean, you think you know a person, right?

Music became part of our healing process. I had a few songs with no lyrics, and her lyrics fit them perfectly.

My next album includes four songs we wrote together plus six that I wrote myself.

This is my most personal project to date and features some of my incredibly talented friends from North Carolina, Nashville,  California and even Italy. There’s also cello and accordion on a few songs – a first for me.

Shannon:
We had planned to release the album by now, but I got caught up in the tech layoffs and lost my job  over the summer, forcing us to put completion of the album on hold.

Steve:
I’ve already handled the recording of the new songs in my home studio. Now it’s time to get these songs mixed and turn these tracks into an actual album to share with you and the rest of the world.

Shannon:
And this where you come in.

Steve:
We’ve created a budget of $2,500 for mixing and mastering the album. This budget also covers distributing “Faithless Town” online and on CD, making a high-quality video or two, and promotion.  I see many high-dollar campaigns on Kickstarter, but since the recording of my album is pretty much done, it won’t take as much to get this project to the finish line.

So we are asking you to partner with us for the $2,500 we need to finish the album and get it out into the world.

Shannon:
To thank you for your belief in us and our music and your financial pledge, there are many reward packages to choose from on our Kickstarter campaign website. These range from pre-release digital downloads of the “Faithless Town” album, to CDs, recorded personalized songs of your choice, and even you joining us in the songwriting process.

Steve:
Well, there you have it. We would love for you to join us on this musical adventure, help us share our story of hope and get “Faithless Town” finished and released.

Thank you for checking out our campaign, we greatly appreciate you and your support!
